Waterfalls in Ōji

Known since the days of Edo as a place blessed with water, the area continues to delight visitors today with traditional atmosphere and free water-play areas in clean, leafy parks.

The name Otonashi River applies to the short stretch of the Shakujii River that flows near Ōji Shrine. In the background of the original composition we see a small dam with water spilling over the top. Although only a small cascade of water, it earned the lavish nickname “the Great Waterfall.”
