The city flourishing, holiday illuminations

While Tanabata celebrations are getting rarer, new festivities are increasingly popular. Leading up to Christmas, Tokyo comes alive with extravagant illuminations and festive decorations. For a country that traditionally celebrates New Years’ Day over Christmas, the city nonetheless embraces the holiday season with an intense fervor. With the lights on every night from mid-November until Christmas Day, Tokyo Midtown is one of Tokyo’s most popular spots for winter illuminations.

Roppongi Hills Christmas features the spectacular illumination at the 400m Keyakizaka Street with approximately 700,000 LED lights. Moreover, there are several illuminations display at the site during the season. Moreover, the gorgeous illumination view is complemented with the Tokyo Tower on the background.
