Skytree from Asakusa

During Edo times the city mostly consisted in low elevation wooden houses. Mount Fuji was clearly visible and often used for orientation. Skytree is a contemporary landmark defining the east end of the city.

Although its high elevation, the Asakusa Culture Tourist Information Center pays respect to the old times with its appearance of a stack of separate wooden buildings that have been piled up on top of each other at different angles.
