The Sumiyoshi Festival at Tsukudajima

The festival of Sumiyoshi-Jinja Shrine, the god guarding Tsukuda, has been held since the Edo period. Although the Honmatsuri takes place every 3 years, a small group of local residents rehearses every year.
Notes
Hiroshige rarely drew recognizable people in his series. Nowadays the spirit of tradition is held and preserved in the heart of the people in Tokyo. This is a tribute to them.
