Near its mouth, the Sumida river divides into many canals. This scenic views of the area including Tokyo Skytree has been taken from the bridge that connects Kiyosumicho in Fukagawa with Nihonbashi-nakasucho.

Kiyosu Bridge, over the Sumida River is a representative suspension bridge constructed in prewar Japan. It was the first self-anchored chain suspension bridge built in Japan, completed n March 1928 after the Great Kanto earthquake disaster.
